Achieving the Dream at HFCC
Developmental Math Initiative Orientation Initiative Transition to College Initiative
HFCC’s goal is to effectively collect and analyze data to successfully evaluate programs and policies implemented to enhance student success. The college’s preliminary agenda includes:
- Implementing a systematic model for institutional change
- Developing effective innovative programs for the neediest and most challenged students
- Analyzing data to evaluate the effectiveness of courses and programs
- Linking Achieving the Dream goals and values to the accreditation process
To meet the above goals, HFCC has proposed the following three initiatives:
- Increase success in developmental mathematics courses and progression to gatekeeper courses
- Increase persistence and retention through well designed and effective orientation strategies
- Increase academic preparedness of entering minority and low income students through programs for high school students transitioning to college
