JOB DEVELOPER

(A Temporary, Part-Time Position)

 

Compensation

The starting hourly pay rate for this part-time (18 hours/week) position is $18.00 with annual increments to a maximum of $22.25 based on educational credentials.  The position is at will, funded through a federal program, and subject to annual renewals.  A health benefit package is not included.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Job Developer will be responsible to the Placement Officer for developing job opportunities, primarily part-time, to enable enrolled HFCC students to work while pursuing their education.

Qualifications

Professional Preparation

Minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, Education or related major.

Professional Experience

Experience with job development, placement, human resources, employee recruiting, sales/marketing, or a position requiring extensive telephone customer contact.

Personal Qualifications

The candidate should be personable, energetic, and possess the ability to work effectively with employers, students, and college staff.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with the College’s Placement Officer to develop and maintain a comprehensive job placement office.
  2. Stay abreast of current development trends with the Michigan Work-Study Program.
  3. Work closely with the College’s Placement Officer to maintain the Colleges’ Work-Study Program.
  4. Follow-up with employers of current job openings.
  5. Initiate contact with employers within the service area of the College to identify and develop job opportunities for HFCC students.
  6. Develop knowledge of application and selection process of area employers.
  7. Assist students seeking employment with employment applications, resumes, and letters of application.   Provide students with information regarding successful job search techniques.
  8. Arrange interviews and participate in job matching activities and related tasks until the student secures employment.
  9. Maintain specific records of:
    • Employer contacts initiated,
    • Job title, number of openings, and pay for identified employment opportunities
    • Students registered, referred, and placed.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
