THE COLLEGE:   Henry Ford Community College is a comprehensive, publicly supported institution enrolling more than 16,500 persons of all ages through an open-door policy.  It is governed by a Board of Trustees whose seven members also serve as the Dearborn Board of Education.  A legal part of the school district, the College is administered separately from the elementary and secondary programs.  The 75-acre campus is located on the former estate of the late Henry Ford in Fairlane Town Center, a wooded greenbelt in the heart of Dearborn with easy access to all parts of the Detroit Metropolitan Area.  By Board of Trustee mandate, a smoke-free environment is maintained.

SELECTION OF PERSONNEL:   Resumes and credentials from all professional applicants for full-time positions are reviewed by a committee especially chosen for each opening.  The committee determines the applicants it will interview (not all can be interviewed because as many as 200 persons may express an interest in a typical opening).  The committee then makes a recommendation to the appropriate chief administrative officer, who conducts additional interviews before making recommendations to the President.  The President conducts further interviews before a recommendation is made to the Board of Trustees.  This procedure often spans several weeks after the established application deadline.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER:   The College does not discriminate in any educational program, activity, or employment practice on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, age, sex, marital status, handicap, political affiliation or belief.  Inquiries in this specific regard should contact (313) 845-9820.
